WHAT CAN 3D MODELLING BE GOOD FOR IN A MEDICAL SETTING?

The possibilities are almost endless when it comes to the use of additive manufacturing in medical preparation. For instance, it can be used in virtual planning and when designing advanced surgical guides to aid the insertion of screws/pins and when deciding the place of osteotomy.

The huge advantage of using additive manufacturing over other techniques is that it is individualised for every specific patient. Over the last few years, a huge development has occurred in the 3D field and the prognosis predicts no decrement in this.

CAD and 3D printing are extremely valuable when it comes to visualising the anatomical structures and understanding the extent of the disease. This includes not only the clinicians/veterinary personnel but also the owners to be able to understand what their pets are suffering from.

CAN WE USE IT FOR OTHER PURPOSES?

New areas of use for 3D modelling and printing are constantly appearing. We are always open to suggestions when it comes to cooperating with other companies and developing our knowledge in various fields.

About us

We offer our expertise in advanced computer-aided preparation in animal healthcare.

Our team consists of two veterinary surgeons, one CAD specialist (also an employee at a leading human medical 3D centre (Skåne University Hospital) and a corporate lawyer with economic knowledge.

The company's primary goal is to contribute to more confident veterinary care, by increasing the precision in a variety of procedures.

The 3D technique has already been used in the veterinary medical setting in several countries and has been established in the human medical field for many years. Nevertheless, we consider us being pioneers in the Nordic countries in this field. We have wide experience and are highly skilled in 3D veterinary modelling.

WHAT IS USED AS RAW DATA AND HOW IS IT CREATED?

Medical 3D modelling is based on raw data from diagnostic imaging modalities. The main method is Computed Tomography (CT), thanks to its great spatial resolution. This gives us highly relevant imaging information to work with the creation of 3D models.

WHY DO WE USE BIOCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS?

We at NordicVet3D can print in biocompatible materials, that are also standardised with certifications, such as ISO 10993-1:2018, USP Class IV and biocompatibility class I. This means that these surgical models meet the requirements in both human, dental and veterinary surgical applications.

The surgical guides can be sterilised in standard autoclave programs (ask us for more information).
